Health & Safety

I am double trained and have taken placenta encapsulation safety courses from the Irish Placenta Association in 2014, and IPEN in 2017.

IPEN certified placenta specialists hold all relevant health & safety certificates including Infection Control, HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) and Food Safety.
We operate under a robust FSMS document developed with and approved by Environmental Health in the UK. All our equipment and workspace is thoroughly cleaned and sterilised between clients using the highest grade hospital cleaners and sanitisers.

I only ever work on one placenta at a time. Each placenta receives my full attention to detail and safety, including rigorous documentation from start to finish. This process guarantees that your placenta will never be mixed up or cross contaminated.

Keeping your Placenta Safe

Temperature control during storage and transportation of your placenta is absolutely crucial. I do perform a temperature check on each placenta collected to make sure it is safe for consumption
For your piece of mind, I provide you with everything you need on the day. My encapsulation service includes a Placenta Pack which contains, a custom cooler bag, ice blogs, information flyers for yourself and your midwife, and a collection label.

I have found the capsules really good. They really help balance my mood by giving me an energy boost almost after I take them. The days I've forgot to take them, in the evening I've noticed I am more sleepy by 9pm.
Whereas when I take them I'm fine till 1130. This is of great benefit to me with breast feeding on demand.
I would highly recommend them. I didn't do it on my first birth and I spent the first 3 months wrecked.

I have to say I have so much energy that I really did not expect to have and I honestly know it's down to the placenta capsules!
Friends and family who have had babies cannot get over the energy I have and how good my form is! And I have had no issues with breastfeeding also!
I have recommended them and you to so many people and hopefully I will be calling on you again!!
If only it was an endless supply!!

I’m getting on great & oh my god do I feel a difference with the capsules. I actually can’t believe how well I feel in comparison to the last time (when I didn’t use the capsules).
I didn’t bounce back very well after my first pregnancy & I wasn’t myself for quite a few months afterwards. But this time I felt normal again very quickly & my energy levels are really good, which makes everything else easier to handle. Even my hair & nails are in great condition

Your Questions Answered Here

Step 1 - Once your €50 comes through and you are booked in, I will post your Welcome Pack which contains your cooler bag, ice packs and documents. Place the ice packs in your freezer and keep the cooler bag and documents in your hospital bag.

Step 2 - Send me a text message to let me know you are in labour so I know I have a collection coming up. When you leave for the hospital, remember to take out the ice packs and put them in the cooler bag.

Step 3 - Tell your midwife you wish to keep your placenta, she will double-bag it in hospital clinical waste bags and place it in the cooler bag for you. Send me another text message to let me know the placenta is available for collection and make arrangements.

Yes! After you’ve had your baby, I will make arrangement with your partner for collection.
I collect from all 3 Dublin maternity hospitals and OLOL in Drogheda during daytime hours.
I will always try to collect your placenta as soon as I can, this can range from 2h to 12h. I don’t collect at night time, but I provide everything you need and detailed instructions to keep your placenta chilled until collection the next morning.

That’s absolutely fine, only 3-5% of babies are born on their due date. Due dates are just a guideline for me to get an idea of when a collection might happen and manage my monthly workload.

I aim to deliver your placenta products back to you within 24-72 hours, either by courier, express post, or in person.
However, please allow 3-7 days as weekends, bank holidays or a busy schedule can sometimes delay delivery.

Absolutely!! Capsules will be even more beneficial to you after a long/difficult birth or surgery.

Sadly I cannot encapsulate your placenta if :
- you develop an infection in labour
- your placenta has been sent to pathology
- your placenta has not been stored and cooled properly according to the guidelines provided
- you have tested positive for HIV, Aids, Hepatitis B or C
- you have smoked during your pregnancy

Most mums get 150-170 capsules. But the amount of capsules you get depends on the size of the placenta and the method chosen.
The Steamed method gives slightly less capsules than the Simple method. The amount of capsules can range between 120 and 240.

Actually, the suggested dosage is 1-2 capsules 3 times a day.
The dosage is not set in stone and you can adjust it as you see fit as your needs might change daily.
Initially, I recommend taking 6 capsules for the first few weeks to speed up recovery.

That’s entirely up to you. Your capsules have 6 months shelf-life.
Some mums consume them all within 8-12 weeks, and some spread them out a bit towards the end.

My recommendation is to book in as soon as you decide that you want placenta capsules.
Life is so busy, it’s common for mums to enquire early in their pregnancy but actually leave it too late to book in, for example if baby comes early of if they are brought unexpectedly for early induction or section.
Also, some months of the year are very busy and book out quicker than others.

Sadly, with my busy schedule and mums as far as Louth and Wicklow, I cannot offer collection from home addresses and only collect from hospital.
If you are having a home birth, we can arrange collection at the hospital you are registered with, or somewhere else in the city centre (this can be your home if you live in the city centre).
