Health & Safety

I am double trained and have taken placenta encapsulation courses from the Irish Placenta Association in 2014, and IPEN in 2017.

IPEN certified placenta specialists hold all relevant health & safety certificates including Infection Control, HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) and Food Safety.
We operate under a robust FSMS document developed with and approved by Environmental Health in the UK. All our equipment and workspace is thoroughly cleaned and sterilised between clients using the highest grade hospital cleaners and sanitisers.

I only ever work on one placenta at a time. Each placenta receives my full attention to detail and safety, including rigorous documentation from start to finish. This process guarantees that your placenta will never be mixed up or cross contaminated.

Keeping your Placenta Safe

Temperature control during storage and transportation of your placenta is absolutely crucial. I do perform a temperature check on each placenta collected to make sure it is safe for consumption
For your piece of mind, I provide you with everything you need on the day. My encapsulation service includes a Placenta Pack which contains, a custom cooler bag, ice blogs, information flyers for yourself and your midwife, and a collection label.

I have found the capsules really good. They really help balance my mood by giving me an energy boost almost after I take them. The days I've forgot to take them, in the evening I've noticed I am more sleepy by 9pm.
Whereas when I take them I'm fine till 1130. This is of great benefit to me with breast feeding on demand.
I would highly recommend them. I didn't do it on my first birth and I spent the first 3 months wrecked.

I have to say I have so much energy that I really did not expect to have and I honestly know it's down to the placenta capsules!
Friends and family who have had babies cannot get over the energy I have and how good my form is! And I have had no issues with breastfeeding also!
I have recommended them and you to so many people and hopefully I will be calling on you again!!
If only it was an endless supply!!

I’m getting on great & oh my god do I feel a difference with the capsules. I actually can’t believe how well I feel in comparison to the last time (when I didn’t use the capsules).
I didn’t bounce back very well after my first pregnancy & I wasn’t myself for quite a few months afterwards. But this time I felt normal again very quickly & my energy levels are really good, which makes everything else easier to handle. Even my hair & nails are in great condition

Your Questions Answered Here

How do I get started?
To get started with placenta encapsulation, all you need to do is fill out the enquiry form. You will then receive a confirmation email with a link to my online booking form.
Will the hospital let me keep my placenta?
Yes, you do not need permission to take your placenta as you own it. Hospitals are familiar placenta encapsulation and have no issues with mothers keeping their placenta. Simply tell your midwife that you are keeping your placenta and give her your cooler pack and the placenta care document.
What is the collection process?
I collect from all 3 Dublin maternity hospitals during daytime hours. If you were to give birth in the evening or during the night, I would collect from the hospital the next morning. I can either deliver the capsules to you in hospital or post them express if you have already been discharged.
Simple or Steamed? What is the difference?
The Steamed prep is inspired from Traditional Chinese Medicine and follows the practice of steaming the placenta with ginger, lemon and chilli before dehydrating and grinding down into a powder form. Simple Capsules leave out the steaming process. The placenta is dehydrated fresh and is at no time subjected to high levels of heat. Many believe that heat may destroy some of the nutritional content and opt for the Simple option. Simple encapsulation produces a higher yield of capsules than Steamed as the placenta shrinks a little with the steaming process. Whether you opt for Simple or Steamed is down to personal preference.
How many capsules will I get?
Placentas vary in size. Most placentas make between 90-200 capsules. On average I get about 140-180. Simple encapsulation makes more than Steamed.
How long will my capsules last?
This largely depends on the initial amount and your daily dose. If you got 170 capsules and you took 3 a day, they would last you about 8 weeks. However your daily needs and daily dose will change as weeks go by... If you feel you have really benefited from your capsules and will miss them when they run out , then consider returning a few to me (8-10) to have a tincture made.
How long will my capsules keep for?
I recommend consuming all your capsules within 6 months. To preserve freshness, they should be stored in a cool dry place away from sunlight. After 6 months you can return leftover capsules to have a tincture made if you wish. Left over capsules can also be used to make oils and balms. I do not recommend freezing capsules for menopause, I recommend having a tincture made for that purpose, from a fresh piece of placenta if possible.
Can I use my placenta for more than one remedy?
Absolutely. All remedies available can be obtained from one single placenta and I have created 4 lovely pamper packages.
Can I use my placenta after a Caesarean Section?
Absolutely. Just make sure your consultant is aware that you are keeping your placenta.
